Dhenkanal: This year 17,000 differently-abled voters in this district are going to exercise their franchise. Vehicle arrangements will be in place to bring the voters to their respective booths, said Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan while speaking a press meet about the arrangements to ensure free and fair elections at the DRDA conference hall Wednesday.
As many as 110 sensitive booths have been identified in the district. These booths will be under CCTV surveillance at all times. This apart, modern videography system and extra forces will be deployed at the booths.
No mobile phone or any other electronic gadgets will be allowed into the booths. The SP will brief the media from time to time about the law and order situation.
At the time of filing nominations, the candidate, his four proposers and one agent will be allowed into the election officers’ chamber. While only three vehicles will be allowed inside the office campus, other vehicles, if any, will be parked 100 metres away from the office.
No stone will be left unturned to see that all the voters cast their votes without any hassle. There will be Scouts and Guides and NCC cadets to provide all assistance to the voters, Kalyan said, adding the administration has urged the candidates to abide by the rules and norms laid down by the Election Commission.
