Cuttack, April 7: Six accused in the Orissa Police constable recruitment examination question paper leak case, were granted bail by First class judicial magistrate Pradip Kumar Sasmal here Tuesday.
Those granted bail include havaldar constable Mahasangha, Kishore Kumar Mohanty, Koraput based second battalion constable, Biswa Ranjan Muduli and others.
Representing the accused, senior advocate Dharanidhar Nayak said IPS officers were in-charge of security of the question papers. He said his clients were being made scapegoats in the case and their arrest in the case is unjust.
Earlier, the state Crime Branch had arrested eight persons in the question paper leak case, which had rocked the state including the legislative assembly. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had to assure the Opposition in the House that the guilty in the case would not be spared.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the Crime Branch suspected the involvement of more people in the incident.
The Orissa Police constable recruitment examination which was to be conducted by Orissa Police State Council Board at 31 venues across the state was cancelled in the last minute after reports of question paper leak surfaced.
The probe was handed over to the Crime Branch the same day. The test was later held April 5, 2015 and around 19,000 candidates took the test for 1370 posts.
