Bhubaneswar, June 1: Actor Amitabh Bachchan is to do a voice-over for the documentary on Nabakalebara, ‘God’s Own People’.
State tourism department sources said Big B has given his assent to tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda’s request. Amitabh said he felt honoured to be the narrator for the film.
However, the star is yet to finalise dates for the recording. The recording will be done at Mumbai, according to tourism department sources.
The tourism department also plans to showcase ‘God’s Own People’, which chronicles a major event in Oriya culture, at other international film festivals.
Recently ‘God’s Own People’, which was directed by Padmashree Nilamadhab Panda was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
A concise version of the documentary was specially screened in Bhubaneswar in April.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor SC Jamir had watched the film.
The 78-minute film has been financed by state tourism and culture department.
Nilamadhab Panda is an internationally acclaimed film-maker and producer and has produced and directed more than 70 films, documentaries and shorts.
He has highlighted important social issues such as climate change, child labour, education, water issues, and sanitation through his works.
