Bhubaneswar: Anshika Routray, daughter of Orissa Olympian Anuradha Biswal, continued her brilliant run as she bagged gold medal in the girls’ U-14 shot put event at the 22nd CBSE National Athletics Championships at Raipur, Wednesday.
It was not only a memorable moment for the youngster, but also a proud moment for Anuradha. The Olympian, who was present as a guest, presented the gold to her daughter.
Anshika, representing SAI International School, threw the iron ball to a distance of 10.39m to finish atop the podium. Y Soumya of Brightland Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Jaipur (Rajasthan) was second with a throw of 10.04m while UP’s Isha Tomar (9.82m) of Modern Public School bagged bronze.
