Bhubaneswar: Soon after imposing restrictions on frequent foreign trips of senior babus, the state government has now asked the secretaries and principal secretaries to inform while leaving the state headquarters (HQ) for more than five days for any purpose.
The government has asked officials to inform the General Administration and Public Grievances (GA&PG) Department while leaving the state headquarters either on leave, training or otherwise for more than five days.
“It has come to notice that principal secretaries/secretaries of respective departments are going outside the headquarters either on leave/ training or otherwise beyond five days without informing the GA & PG Department, which results in avoidable dislocation of work,” said an order of GA&PG department.
The government, therefore, has decided that the principal secretaries and secretaries will have to inform the GA & PG Department before going outside the headquarters beyond five days for any purpose to avoid any administrative dislocation in future. The order was issued following the instruction of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, said official sources.
According to sources, the government has taken the step after several important files got stocked due to absence of the secretaries concerned. With this order, on the absence of a secretary level officer, the government can give charge of the concern department to another officer.
Few days back, the state government had imposed restrictions on frequent official visits of senior officers to foreign countries. Now, no officer of the state government can undertake an official foreign visit more than thrice during a financial year.
