Baripada: The four-day long Mayurbhanj festival kicked off to a colorful start Wednesday with collector Surendra Kumar Meena inaugurating the event.
On the inaugural day, several troupes performed traditional dance on the premises of Janganath temple and trooped to the Chhau Ground in processions.
The festival is being organised with an aim to protect the unique art, culture and tradition of the district. About 15 troupes from various parts of the district performed traditional dance at the carnival.
The festival has been a huge draw for people. Cultural programmes will be staged on Chhau Ground from December 7 to 9. The festival has provided small traders to sell their products.
Visitors and people will relish all traditional recipes of the district such as puffed rice and mutton curry.
At the festival, people will find various minor forest produce, sabai grass-made products, Prominent cine stars like Bijay Mohanty, Utam Mohanty, Mihir Das, Papu Pompom, Salil Choudhry and Asit Pati among many will grace the occasion.
