Bhubaneswar: There will 49 participants teeing off when the two-day 13th Corporate Golf tournament organised by the Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) starts Saturday. This is the first time BGC will be jointly hosting the event with Global Enterprise Connect (GEC), Dubai. The tournament is being played in only four other locations in India. Two top golfers from the BGC leg will get the chance to take part Dubai Corporate Golf World Cup Final – 2017 at the Emirates golf course in Dubai, December 13 and 14.
The competition at the BGC will be played over 18 holes and in the Stable-ford format. There will be prizes for individual as well as team categories. Approximately 20 top corporate houses, mostly from Orissa, including Frontline Industries, Tata Steel (Orissa and Jamshedpur), Mahanadi Coal Fields (Sambalpur), Paradip Port Trust, PJ International, Dhamra Port Company, Z Estates, East Coast Railways, Esprit Toyota, ACRUX and Milk Mantra will be taking part in the event. The prize distribution ceremony will take place at the BGC premises, Sunday.
Meanwhile in the Kalinga Golf Tournament played at the club course, Sunday, eminent woman golfer Lakhi Swain emerged champion in the 19-24 handicap segment while competing with men. Lakhi, who had a handicap of 22, finished on top of her group with a score of 92 in the ‘Stroke Play’ format. Bhupinder Singh was the runner-up in the same segment. Some of the other winners in the event were Andasu Ravinder (0-18 handicap), Subhra Misra (Ladies) and Ajay Patnaik (Seniors).
