Bhubaneswar, July 22: Ajit Andhare, producer of the film ‘Budhia Singh – Born to Run’ has written a leave application to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in the state informing them that young marathoner Budhia Singh will be away from Bhubaneswar as he will be promoting the movie, a sports biopic, in various parts of the country.
CWC members told newsmen they had received a letter from Ajit in this regard and that the producer has sent them individual copies of the letter addressed to the sports hostel here and the school where Budhia is studying.
According to sources, Ajit has informed the CWC and Budhia’s hostel and school authorities that the wunderkind marathoner will visit various parts of the country from July 24 to August 5 for promoting the film ‘Budhia Singh – Born to Run’.
This comes after the CWC had July 16 lodged a missing complaint about Budhia, whose family stays in Salia Sahi in the state capital, with Nayapalli police as the boy did not return to the hostel run by Sports Authority of India (SAI) after the summer vacation ended.
Earlier, commissionerate police officials July 17 had said Budhia and his mother Sukanti are currently holidaying in Tamil Nadu and that they are safe.
Budhia, who was admitted to the sports hostel by the state government in 2007, had left for home May 10 and was supposed to return to the hostel June 7.
However, the wunderkind runner failed to get back to the hostel as per expectations. In the past, Budhia had expressed his displeasure over the facilities provided to the athletes at the sports hostel.
