Bhubaneswar: Alleging misbehavior by Mayurbhanj collector, BJP Zilla Parishad and state BJP members submitted a memorandum to the Governor SC Jamir here Sunday.
A delegation of the BJP led by its state unit vice-president Sameer Mohanty met the Governor and submitted the memorandum requesting the latter to issue necessary instructions to the collector to cooperate the ZP members for the betterment and welfare of the tribal-dominated district.
In its memorandum, the saffron party alleged that ruling BJD, through its district level officers under the leadership of the collector, is creating hindrances in the day-to-day functioning of the democratically elected Zilla Parishad (ZP) in the district.
“Though the collector, Mayurbhanj, is the Chief Executive Officer of the ZP and is subject to the control of the democratically elected body, the authority is functioning as a tool of the BJD,” the party alleged.
Refuting the allegations, BJD spokesperson Samir Das said the BJP is playing politics over each and every small incident. The people of the state will give them a befitting reply in coming days, he added.
