Betanoti: A day after a gram panchayat technical assistant (GPTA) of Betanoti block in Mayurbhanj district was tied and beaten up by a person at Haladipada, block employees began a sit-in outside the block office Friday.
Two FIRs were lodged at the police station in this connection.
GPTA Ramendra Narayan has filed a complaint at the Baisinga police station, against Rabi Barik of Haladipada. However, in the complaint, the reason for attack on the GPTA is attributed to misbehaviour with a woman. The GPTA is under treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
On the other hand, villagers had allegedly assaulted Rabi Barik. Rabi has filed a complaint against the GPTA, accusing him of misbehaving with a woman.
Rabi, who was hurt in the attack by villagers, is undergoing treatment at PRM Medical College and Hospital.
BDO Jagannath Hanuman said that he has asked the GPTA to give details of the attack on him while higher-ups have been apprised of the incident.
