Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Saturday decided to provide trade licence certificates to the commercial establishments at special camps to be organised from May 22 to 31 at its zone offices.
Earlier, it was a tad difficult to avail licences, but now the traders can avail the certificates through a self-declaration.
The camps will provide assistance to the beneficiaries, who do not have adequate knowledge on filling up the forms. Besides, a rate chart for fee calculation would be displayed at these camps. Those who are having the licences but are yet to renew them can also come for renewal of their certificates.
There are around 15,000 trade licence holders under BMC. Officials, however, said that around 36,000 commercial establishments are running without trade licences. According to Orissa Municipal Act, trade licence is mandatory for the commercial establishments.
Camps will be organised in South West Zone at Rental Colony, North Zone at Chandrasekharpur and South East Zone at BMC office campus.
