Bhubaneswar: Bolangir Sports Hostel (BSH) and Bajrang Bali Junior Club (BBJC) entered the final of the Biju Patnaik Gold Cup football tournament etching out contrasting victories over their respective rivals at the Unit-VI High School ground here, Tuesday.
In the first semifinal BBJC defeated Nayagarh Sports Hostel (NSH) 2-0. Manoj Mit (31st) and Chittaranjan Pradhan (46th) were the scorers. In the second game, BSH defeated KISS School 5-4 via the tie-breaker after the match had ended 1-1 in regulation time. The final will be will be played Wednesday.
Janmejaya wins gold
Janmejaya Mohanty of Orissa clinched the bodybuilding gold in the 85kg category at the 33rd All India Postal Bodybuilding, Weightlifting and Powerlifting championship which concluded at Lucknow, Tuesday.
The other bodybuilders from the state to win medals were Vaddi Srikant (gold, 60kg), Suraj Singh (gold, 80kg) and SS Harichandan (silver 90kg).
In the weightlifting competition Biswajit Pratihari (94kg), Kameshwar Nayak (85kg), and Pradeep Sahu (56kg) secured gold in their respective categories.
Janmejaya was adjudged as the best poised competitor in bodybuilding and the most muscular man. Incidentally it was his seventh consecutive gold in this tournament. However, Orissa finished runners-up in the tournament.
Orissa lose
Sports Authority of India (SAI) scripted a hard fought 2-1 victory over Orissa in the semifinal of the Sub-Junior Boy’s National football championship at Punjab, Tuesday. Md Aziz (47th and 49th) scored both the goals for SAI while Sagar Majhi pulled one back for Orissa in the 80th minute.
