Bhubaneswar: Chinmay Pradhan of Orissa continued his magical run as he defeated Arghya Das of West Bengal 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets to clinch the singles title of Gururkul AITA-OTA 50k Men’s ranking tennis tournament at Mendhasal here, Friday.
Chinmay dominated the match completely and hardly gave any chances to Arghya. Chinmay won the first set easily as his opponent was simply no match for him. In the second set Arghya showed signs of improvement, but struggled as the match progressed.
In the doubles final, Aditya Roychowdhury and Rohit Rampuria of West Bengal won 6-4, 6-1 against Harshith Satkarni and Shimon Shastri of Maharashtra.
Orissa lose to Tamil Nadu
Orissa lost their quarterfinal match against Tamil Nadu 0-2 in the 23rd Senior Women’s National Football Championships at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Friday. Both the goals came in the second session.
Tamil Nadu opened their account in the 50th minute through Indumati who scored again in the 71st minute to ensure victory for her side.
In another quarterfinal game, Railways scraped past Delhi 2-1 to sail into the semifinals.
Vishakhapatnam win
Vishakhapatnam Railways defeated Chhattisgarh Railways by seven wickets in a match of the 25th Pradip Memorial International cricket tournament at Tilo, Friday.
Opting to bat first Chhattisgarh scored 132 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs with Abinash Yadav (44, 41b, 6×4, 1×6) emerging as the highest scorer. G Sankar Rao (2/20) and Appa Rao (2/25) bowled well for Vishakhapatnam.
In reply Vishakhapatnam overhauled the total in 15.1overs for the loss of three wickets. Dhiraj Kumar (53, 20b, 4×4, 6×6) and C H Yogesh (54, 43b, 7×4) led the run chase with blistering half centuries.
