Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik graced the Diamond Jubilee celebration of BJB College organised by the BJB Alumni Association here Sunday. The Chief Minister felicitated former Principals of the college for the splendid job they did. He said, “I congratulate you and wish you and your families a happy new year. The BJB College is a lead- ing institution of Orissa. True to its reputation, BJB students have succeeded in their careers and lives.” A special postal stamp was un- veiled on the occasion to com- memorate the college’s diamond ju- bilee. Remembering Paika Rebellion hero Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mahapatra, after whom the col- lege is named, he said that when we celebrate the diamond jubilee of BJB College, we are also cele- brating the 200th anniversary of the Paika Rebellion. “I take this opportunity to offer my tributes to that great son of Orissa.
I hope that my BJB friends will take inspiration from Buxi Jagabandhu, and show his strength of character, willpower and fight- ing spirit,” he added. The Chief Minister said that the alumni and students of BJB College should participate in the new ‘Mo School’ programme and fulfill the role of a mentor. “Mo School encourages everyone to do something for their schools. It can be constructing a science lab or library, providing scholarships, or volunteering to teach students or to promote sports in schools etc,” he added. The programme was launched to connect children with their schools. The government will provide Rs 100 crore to publicise the campaign. Everyone must take part in the development of their alma maters, the CM said. Several awards were distributed to students on the occasion for excellence in academics and sports
