Bhubaneswar:Orissa Governor SC Jamir delivered a lecture at the 17th Foundation Day Lecture organised by Nalco at the Nalco Auditorium in the city Thursday. The lecture was held in connection with the company’s 38th Foundation Day. Praising Nalco for pursuing excellence the Governor said, “For 38 years Nalco has been committed to achieving global excellence in the production of alumina and aluminum.” “The nature of the global economy and India’s place in it is changing. In the last 25 years India has been undergoing an economic transformation and even then the country has millions of youths who are unable to find jobs.
For India to stay ahead of competition we should create opportunities for our young and train them so that they have the skills to grasp opportunities and realise their potential,” the Governor added. Stressing the Skill India Mission Jamir said, “Skill India Mission is an opportunity for companies to give serious thought to how they can contribute to bridging the skills gap in the country. No substantial change can occur without the active involvement of both the public and private sectors. By leveraging the Skill India Mission and engaging with the government and implementation agencies companies can provide training programmes for the long term development of the country.”
