Bhadrak: Just a day after the seizure of fake currency notes of Rs 1.5lakh and arrest of five persons in Balasore district, the Bhandaripokhari police seized as many as 92 fake currency notes worth Rs 13,300 in Bhadrak district. Three persons were arrested in this connection.
Sources said, “Chandrakant Nayak of Nerada village in Bhadrak and his two brothers-in-law Ajay Mohanty and Debashis Mohanty were allegedly involved in racket of circulating counterfeit currency notes in nearby areas. The accused got the supply of the same from Anandapur in Keonjhar district.”
On being informed, police conducted a raid and arrested the trio and seized 51 counterfeit notes in denomination of Rs 100 and 41 notes in denomination of Rs 200, amounting to a total of Rs 13,300.
Suspecting a well organized racket behind the recent seizure of counterfeit notes, police have intensified their investigations.
