Bhubaneswar: A special team of the commissionerate police Friday seized a gun, 35 rounds of bullets and a computer from a rented house of the Dhalasamanta brothers in Visakhapatnam.
Police also gathered some crucial information related to the mysterious disappearance of Dipu Mallik, who was allegedly killed by the Dhalasamanta brothers, said sources. “The cops got a photograph of Mallick, his driving license and some other documents related to him from the Dhalasamanta brothers’ house in Visakhapatnam. Besides, the cops also got some evidence that the duo had invested a hefty sum of money in a Jharsuguda-based industry,” said an official.
The house of the Dhalasamanta brothers in Visakhapatnam was searched by officials of the commissionerate police after getting permission from a local court there. The two brothers – Sushant Dhalasamanta and Sushil Dhalasamanta – have so far denied their involvement in Dipu Mallick’s alleged murder. The duo was arrested from their rented house near Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar January 29.
The statements of Mallick’s father, Adwaita Mallick, and some key witnesses in the case have already been recorded by the commissionerate police. Adwita had alleged that the Dhalasamanta brothers had killed his son after abducting him in November 2013. Meanwhile, twin-city Police Commissioner Yogesh Bahadur Khurania told the media that people of criminal antecedents with links with the Dhalasamanta brothers would soon be arrested and that even influential persons will not be spared if found with incriminating evidence connected to the two brothers.
Khurania also said police have prepared a “blueprint” to curb the mafia menace in Cuttack.
