Bhubaneswar: “Don’t stop dreaming,” suggested veteran actor and chairman of Film and Television Institute of India Anupam Kher addressing the youth masses at the inaugural evening of Third Kalinga International Film Festival here Friday. “Dreams always come true. To realise your dreams and to achieve goals in life, you need to work hard with dedication. Cinema is amazing and full of dreams. I had to dream a great lot to be an actor. I never scored more than 38 per cent marks in my school or college days. I was equally bad in sports. But what I am today is due to my hard work,’’ he averred.
The three-day Kalinga International Film Festival, being organised jointly by a local film and media sciences institute and a film society, commenced screening 25 Indian and international films. Ganga Kumar, Director, Ministry of Planning, KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta, Sattwik Mohanty, director of ‘Ranchi Diaries’and Soundarya Sharma, heroine of the film were among those who were present on the occasion. Films including Chloe from France, Jackpot from Vietnam and Indian films including Bakul, Onyo Poalaa, A World Within Four Walls, Upahar, Roadside Scientists, Ardhonariswar, The Machine, Teorm Kite, Pounopunik, Statement After My Poet Husband’s Death, Alone, Call Girl, Bahurupi, I am Sorry and Ishara will be screened during this three-day festival. The other attractions of the festival include theatre performances, interactive quiz sessions, fashion show, writing competitions, short film-making, Mono acts, photography exhibitions and mannequin challenges. Earlier, Anupam Kher visited the Lingaraj Temple in the city Friday and offered prayers to Lord Shiva.
