Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: In the wake of reports of pilferage of government revenue, the state government has mandated use of electronic ticketing machines to issue tickets to passengers in buses run by Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRCT).
In a first the government has also warned employees of the corporation of initiating criminal proceedings in case they were found to be flouting the government order. Previously, the corporation was only imposing fine on erring employees.
In an order issued recently, the corporation said, “…issue of manual tickets in place of ETM will be treated as an offense.”
The corporation further said passengers found traveling without an e-ticket would also be fined.
OSRTC runs a total 420 buses on 213 routes across the state, including 95 buses under Biju Gaon Gadi Yojana. The corporation also provides bus service on certain inter-state routes, connecting West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
