Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of ECoR’s policy announcement of inviting NGOs, corporate bodies, etc. to provide free WiFi at small stations, its own Women’s Welfare Organisation, ECoRWWO, has come forward and is already providing free WiFi at 32 of stations in its jurisdiction.
All these stations are small and would otherwise not have qualified under present norms of having free WiFi facility.
The stations where such facility has been provided include Shringavarapukota (AP), Turekela Road (Orissa), Araku (AP), Lakna (Orissa), Koraput (Orissa), Komakhan (Chhattisgarh), Jeypore (Orissa), Nayagarh (Orissa), Jagadalpur (Chhattisgarh), Porjanpur (Orissa), Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Goaldih (Orissa), Kirandul (Chhattisgarh), Naranpur (Orissa), Damanjodi (Orissa), Basantpur (Orissa), Laxmipur (Orissa), Nilakantheswar (Orissa), Muniguda (Orissa), Harichandanpur (Orissa), Harishankar Road (Orissa), Chilikdara (Orissa),
Nawapara Road (Orissa), Sagadapata (Orissa), Lanjigarh Road (Orissa), Tangiriapal (Orissa), Doikalu (Orissa), Tomka (Orissa), Bissam (Orissa), Baghuapal (Orissa), Muribahal (Orissa) and Sukinda Road (Orissa).
Hotspots have been created at these stations which enable people to use services like e-commerce, online banking, access to open School/University websites and Social Schemes, e-ticketing for train and bus services.
ECoRWWO president Madhulika Singh came forward and took the initiative to provide these services.
