Keonjhar: The local police Saturday arrested three persons on the charge of extortion bid of Rs 3 crore from a steel plant by posing as Maoists in Keonjhar district.
They have been identified as Trilochan Munda of Bansapani under Joda Police limits, Babulal Khunti and Durga Munda of Jharkhand. The police also seized a pistol and two rounds of bullets from their possession.
They have been booked for spreading terror in the name of Maoists and extortion bid and produced in court. Later, they were remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas, Keonjhar DSP said.
According to police, the three stormed into a steel plant and issued the threat to the security guard to provide Rs 3 crore. The three also had left a letter in the name of Western Sub-Zonal Committee of the Maoists to terrorize the plant authorities.
