Bhanjanagar: A 70-year-old farmer sustained grievous injuries after he was attacked by a boar while he had gone to work at his farm on the wee hours of Sunday at Singhamardani village under Ghumusar forest division here in Ganjam district.
He has been identified as Mochiram Behera. Fellow villagers rescued him in a critical condition and rushed to Bhanjanagar sub-divisional hospital (SDH).
According to sources, Behera woke up early in the morning and left to work in his paddy farm after breakfast. The incident occurred while he was busy pulling grass in his paddy field. Meanwhile, the boar that had strayed into his farm in search of food appeared from the paddy plants and pounced on him.
Behera sustained serious injuries due to the biting of the boar. Hearing his screams, other farmers working in nearby fields came to his rescue.
