Kaptipada: Farmers who were unable to sell their paddy at procurement centers protested in front of Kukridima RMC market at Udala-Podadiha PWD department road in Mayurbhanj district, Wednesday. The strike commenced at 10 am and continued till 3 pm. Vehicular movements were paralyzed due to road blockage by the farmers. Angry farmers alleged irregularities by the paddy procurement centers.
Kaptipada Tahisldar Pradeep Behera, ARCS Dukhi Tudu, MD Laxman Mandri and civil supply officer rushed to the spot discussed with the farmers about their problems and convinced them for removing the road blockage. After discussions, officials gave tokens to farmers for selling 1800 quintals of paddy and they assured farmers that they would arrange paddy tokens for selling the rest 4,200 quintals of paddy by March 26 and 28.
