BHUBANESWAR: The Diwali season presented movie-fans here with two big films, and both were star-studded. The films are Golmaal Again starring several A-list actors and Secret Superstar.
The first is the fourth sequel of comedy movie Golmaal, a franchise directed by Rohit Shetty. The movie has stars like Ajay Devgn, ArshadWarsi, Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Tushar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu. The film drew cheers also as it is part of a popular franchise and is known for its laugh-riots.
Movie fan Sunil Kumar said Golmaal is the screwball comedy franchise that has been kept alive for the last 11 years. Like its previous installments, this one too has moments of unadulterated fun. “The gags are truly funny but are routine in nature but you find yourself laughing uncontrollably because each of the actors here is a delight to watch. Whether it’s the lisping Lakshman played by Shreyas or the bully Gopal played by Ajay Devgn who is petrified of ghosts, everyone is so proficient, you can’t help but laugh at their antics.”
Viewer Asish Ranjan said the additional horror angle thrown in in this movie has made it more interesting. “The horror comedy angle is played well by Rohit. Multiplicity of characters makes a film a little dull. But that is the magic of Golmaal where all the characters are equally good and everybody has a major role to play.”
Another viewer Happy Das said she loved the role of Tabu who is the new entrant in the Golmaal movies. “We know her for her intense roles but watching her in the comedy avatar came as a surprise to me. She played the part of ghost catcher very well.”
The other movie Secret Superstar presented Dangal movie child star Zaira Wasim as also Aamir Khan in pivotal roles. The story is about a girl who wants to be a singer but her father’s objection to singing has forced her to upload her song video on the youtube by wearing a Burkha.
The story was liked by the filmgoers. Shradha Mohanty said the character of a girl who, despite all the difficulty, rises and achieves success, was played perfectly by Zaira. “She is a talent to watch out for.”
