Five held for obscene video

Nayagarh: Police Monday arrested five youths on charges of making an obscene video of two college goers and uploading the same on social media. Police also seized five mobile phones from their possession.

One of the five accused is a handicapped person. Another accused is absconding after the incident, Nayagarh SP Asish Kumar Singh informed at a press meet.

The main accused, who is also seen in the video clip in a compromising position with the girl, was identified as Pabitra Kumar Nayak (22), a Plus III 2nd year student. Similarly, other four Lipun Nayak (19), the handicapped Rabi Rout (28), Tapan Kumar Das (22) and Kalia Behera (19) were arrested on the charge of uploading the video on social media. Another accused Samir Nayak was on the run after the incident.

The arrested five were produced before a court, from where they were remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas. All of them hail from Sidhamula village under Khandapara block.

According to sources, Pabitra was in a relationship with a Plus II first year student of the same village. On some pretext, he took the girl to Sidhamula Shrine February 26 where he forced her to make physical relation with him and recorded the act in his mobile phone.

After some days, he showed the clip to his friends. Soon, they began sharing the video and uploaded it on social media sites like Whatsapp and Facebook.

Later, the girl’s parents came to know about the video and lodged a complaint with Khandapara police Thursday. Police registered a case based on a complaint by the minor girl and made the arrests.

During interrogation, Pabitra confessed to the crime and named his friends who had uploaded the video on social media, SP Singh added.  PNN
