Jeypore: Flight services from Jeypore airstrip in Koraput district would begin from March next year, said general administration (GA) special secretary Ashok Mina Thursday.
Meena came to the town in a special helicopter to review the expansion work for the airstrip.
Additional secretary AK Biswal, collector Anupam Saha, road and building superintending engineer Nabin Chandra Dora, executive engineer Tapan Kumar Panigrahi and other officials attended the review meeting.
According to reports, Rs 6-crore tender has been floated for construction of the boundary wall, terminal and widening of runway. Officials concerned have been asked to complete the task by March end so that flight services under UDAN (Ude Desh ki Aam Nagrik), an initiative of Union civil aviation ministry, can be started from the airstrip.
