Kantapada: The bandh call given by businessmen of Govindpur bazaar in Cuttack district protesting against the attack by anti-socials entered its fourth day Tuesday. Locals faced a tough time during the bandh.
The local IIC, local representatives and some senior citizens from the area Monday evening held a meeting with the businessmen and urged them to end the agitation.
However, the meeting failed to cut any ice with the shop owners.
In a bid to end the impasse, another meeting comprising local sarpanch Lalatendu Prasad Dash, Samiti member Gyanapunna Behera and 10 senior citizens each from Govindpur, Mankha, Balipada and Majurai villages is scheduled to be held Tuesday evening in the presence of police.
With the bazaar being closed, students and locals have been experiencing a lot of difficulties, locals said.
Meanwhile, the police have so far arrested three youths in connection with Saturday’s brawl while three others are still at large.
