Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Thursday rejected the bail plea of Oriya film producer Anam Charan Sahoo, who was arrested by the Crime Branch (CB) December 8, 2017 for his alleged involvement in land scam.
Justice JP Das has directed the CB to submit the case dairy. The special chit fund court had earlier turned down Sahoo’s bail plea following which he had moved the HC.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of CB conducted a probe based on a complaint filed by Subhransu Sekhar Senapati, who alleged that around Rs 5 crore was swindled from about 200 land buyers by the Seven Hills Company in connivance with power of attorney holder Sahoo and Lingaraj Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.
The EOW found that Seven Hills MD MS Srinivas Rao and his associates had cheated first purchasers of the land and executed the sale deeds of the same in favour of Lingaraj Infrastructure. The EOW arrested Sahoo for his involvement in the case.
Rao and two other directors of Lingaraj Infrastructure were arrested in September and November 2017 respectively.
