Sambalpur, Jan 27: Officials have failed to spend about Rs 2.81 crore sanctioned to Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) by various agencies for the development of tribals in education sector in this district, a report said.
Utilisation certificates (UC) for Rs 2,81,43,282, since 2012-13 fiscal, couldn’t be submitted to the sanctioning authorities like State Plan, Western Orissa Development Council (WODC) and Kasturaba Gandhi Valika Bidyalay (KGVB). Non-utilisation of such huge amount of funds has blocked the scope of further grant, sources said.
Reports said, projects under ITDA are under way in Kuchinda, Bamra and Jamankira blocks and Kuchinda NAC. The agency, under the State Plan, received Rs 6.75 crore for various schools and colleges during 2012-13 fiscal of which the UC for Rs 1,63,70,342 is yet to be submitted to the authorities concerned till January 19. Though official reports claim to have spent money on setting up several schools and hostel, many of them are found to be incomplete during the year.
The ITDA again received Rs 4.70 crore during 2013-14, but UC for Rs 43,50,810 is yet to be submitted as the funds have not been spent.Similarly, WODC granted Rs 1.05 crore to ITDA during 2013-14 fiscal, but UC for Rs 43,00,950 is yet to be submitted to the council. The ITDA also received Rs 73 lakh from KGVB in 2013-14 of which Rs 31,21,180 has been lying unutilised. Syed Mohammad Akdash, the sub-collector of Kuchinda and the project administration of ITDA, said efforts are on to complete projects and to submit UCs as soon as possible.
