Bhubaneswar: Ace Orissa bodybuilder Janmejaya Mohanty is targetting a gold medal at the Asian Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships for men and women at Bangkok, December 17-19.
Janmejaya is quite confident about his preparations for the meet. “My preparation (for the meet) is on track. I am working on my diet and fitness. So hopefully I can win a medal. In Asian meets, Indian bodybuilders are always medal favourites. So a gold medal is on my mind,” said the Puri star during a press conference which took place here, Tuesday.
Notably, Janmejaya who now represents West Bengal Bodybuilding Association, was selected for the Bangkok meet during the Mr India competition which had taken place earlier this year. However, he also went through a trial camp which was conducted in Mumbai a couple of months after the Mr India contest. From 35 bodybuilders, nine have been selected for the Asian meet, including Janmejaya who will participate in the 80-85 kg category.
The participants: Janmejaya Mohanty, Ezazul Haque (Jammu & Kashmir), Palash Dhali, Arijit Debnath, Sibaram Piri (all from West Bengal), Manoranjan Sarma, Deepak Gogi, Pranab Langthasa and Abijit Bodo (all from Assam).
