Bhubaneswar, July 28: The students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology weaved magic by infusing their imagination using traditional designs and fabrics which were showcased at a fashion show held in a city-based hotel, Friday. Around 100 collections that were showcased had been exclusively designed by the students of the fashion and interior designing departments on the theme ‘The Different’. That apart, the annual design awards were given away to some of the best designers who helped the students work with leading designers and brands. “The idea behind the theme ‘The Different’ is to take the road not taken. I am elated to see some serious potential and responsibility in my students. In all, this will see a new set of futuristic designers who will take the fashion industry to the next level. It is an opportunity for the students to work with leading brands in India and abroad,” said executive director of JD Institute of fashion technology, RC Dalal. Dwelling on the show, centre director of the institute Vishal Subudhi said: “The amount of talent and creativity is exceptional. The creativity of the students is exceptional. The theme of the show is to highlight the first thought that comes to mind and follow that first thought fearlessly. The fashion show is a platform for the students with unlimited opportunities to stretch their creativity to the maximum and enhance their potential. It’s an opportunity for the students to work with leading designers and be seen and recruited by leading brands in India and abroad.” All the garments are being showcased in different fashion shows held across the country. However, the best collections will be exhibited in London,” he added. The highlight of the fashion show was Polish model Dominka who was impressed with the designs
and fabrics. “This is the second time I am here in the city. I have seen the work of the students and they are really beautiful. These young students are very talented and I know they have a strong sense of style and creativity,” she said.
