Cuttack: Jay Durga Club (JDC) and Chand Club entered the final of the Kailash Chandra Das Memorial U-17 football tournament after winning their respective semifinals at the Reserve Police Ground here Saturday. The final will be played Sunday.
In the first semifinal, Jay Durga Club (JDC) trounced a hapless Dilip Tirkey XI (DTXI) 6-1. Mir Asif Ali started the scoring spree with an early goal in the fourth minute. JDC pressed hard to increase their lead, and didn’t take much time before they doubled their lead in the 31st minute with Asif scoring again.
Abhinash Samal made it 3-0 in the 56th minute. Parag Pradhan pulled one back for DTXI three minutes later but that didn’t have any effect as Asif completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute virtually pocketing the match in their favour. Abhinash completed the rout adding two more goals in the 76th and 79th minutes.
In the other semifinal, a brace from Sk Farid helped Chand Club pump in four goals past Maa Bhuasani Club.
Sk Rizwan opened the scoring early in the fourth minute. Farid made it 2-0 seven minutes later and made it 3-0 with a strike in the 61st minute. Sk Raj rounded of the tally in the 69th minute.
Bolangir enter final
Bolangir entered the final of the 58th Senior Men’s Inter-District football championships for the Sahani Cup after edging out Angul 3-2 in the semifinals at Bolangir, Saturday. They will meet Bhubaneswar in the final, Sunday.
The match ended goalless in the stipulated time. In the ensuing shoot-out Bolangir could convert three of their five shots, while Angul found the back of the net only twice.
