Sundargarh: Panic gripped Panchapariamunda village in Sundargarh district after a herd of wild elephants strayed into human settlement and destroyed crops and houses Wednesday night.
According to reports, the herd comprising of 15 jumbos strayed into the village last night and went on a rampage, damaging three houses and crops in the village.
Even as the region has been going through elephant menace, the forest officials are yet to take necessary action to keep the wild animals away from human settlements, locals alleged.
On being informed, a team of forest personnel reached the village and assured the villagers of immediate action.
