Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara Contenders (KC), Angul Acers (AA), Khurda Warriors (KW), Sambalpur Shooters (SS) qualified Tuesday for the semifinals of the ongoing Orissa tennis Premier League (OTPL) at Kalinga Stadium here, Tuesday.
KC topped Group A with 84 points followed by KW with 80 points. In Group B, SS were on top with 87 points while AA finished second with 79 points.
Chinmay Pradhan of Khurda won both his matches on the day. He paired up with Henamika Karina Sahu to beat Ashutosh Das and Ayesha Swain of Bhadrak Victors 7-3 in the mixed doubles before beating Kumar Anurag Swain 7-5 in men’s singles.
In another important match of the day Kabir Hans of Angul defeated Ajay Kumar Nishank of Sundergarh Veerans (SV) 7-4 in the men’s singles. In the mixed doubles the duo of Kabir and Aditya Satpathy beat Ajay and Suraj Saju 7-3.

Football tourney
The Unit-VI Athletics Association will organise the Biju Patnaik Gold Cup Junior Football Championships at the Unit-VI High School Ground here, November 25-29.
Nine teams will participate in the tournament. The teams are defending champions Balasore Sports Hostel, last year’s runners-up Nayagarh Sports Hostel, Phulbani Sports Hostel, Keonjhar Sports Hostel, Sundargarh Sports Hostel, Bolangir Sports Hostel, Mangala Junior Club (Cuttack), KISS and Bajrangbali Junior FC.
The winners and runners-up will bag Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively along with trophies. KISS will face Mangala Junior Club in the inaugural match.

Four players and a coach from Orissa have been selected to represent India in the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Unified Cricket Tournament to be played at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh December 1-4, Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) announced in a statement here Tuesday. The selected players are Pravat Baral, Sashikant Sethi, Purna Chandra Jena (all Puri) and David Sahoo (Jharsuguda). Bibekananda Mohanty from Cuttack has been selected as the coach. Pravat will be leading the side in the event.
