Bantala: After successfully helping in tranquilising tigress ‘Sundari’ in Satkoisa sanctuary, kumki elephant Yashoda was sent back to the Chandaka wildlife sanctuary Saturday.
The female elephant was brought from Chandaka sanctuary to help in tranquilising the tigress which had unleashed a a reign of terror by allegedly killing two persons in villages on the fringes of the Satkosia sanctuary. The elephant was loaded on a truck and was taken back to Chandaka sanctuary Saturday.
The tigress was tranqulised near the Champeshwar Shiva temple under Tikarpada forest range last Tuesday. The successful tranqulising of the tigress was welcomed by the inhabitants of Satkosia and the tribals worshipped the elephant for the feat.
However, the elephant sparked a mild uproar after it trampled a youth to death when it was chained near a bamboo bush near the Nandini nullah in the sanctuary Thursday.
