Paralakhemundi: A woman sought the help of the district administration to trace her husband who has been missing after he went to work in Chennai. Subasini Lima, who was accompanied by a relative, said she has not heard from her husband Mahendra Lima ever since he went to Chennai.
Mahendra’s employer failed to reveal his whereabouts. The administration expressed concern over Subasini’s pleas and assured necessary steps to rescue Mahendra. Subasini believed that her husband was alive and urged the district labour officer and the collector to bring him back home.
Mahendra hailed from Jholasahi in Rayagada district. Deprived of work, he decided to go to Chennai in search of a job. Leaving behind his wife, he set off for Chennai along with some youths of the village.
However, Mahendra went missing soon after he reached Chennai. Other youths also failed to find him after he was isolated from the group. The matter came to light after the youths called home and told Subasini about the missing of her husband.
On learning the news, Subasini was heart-broken and approached local police. However, local police turned her away asking her to meet the district labour officer. Later, Subasini with the help of a relative approached district labour officer G Benugopal Rao and narrated her ordeal.
Similarly, Mahendra’s sister Milly Karad pleaded with the administration to rescue her brother. Their statements were recorded, officials said. Necessary steps will be taken after orders from the higher-ups, sources said. PNN
