Jhajjar (Haryana): A man from the Silana village in the Jhajjar district of Haryana shot his cousin for not voting for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections, Wednesday.
The victim, Raj Singh, aka Raja, described the attack in vivid detail. According to Raja, his cousin Dharmendra, in a fit of anger, fired four rounds at him at his house, injuring his mother in the process as well.
As per the victim’s complaint, Dharmendra had asked his cousin to vote for the BJP but Raja had voted for Congress.
“Today (Wednesday) morning, Dharmendra came to our home in a Mahendra Scorpio jeep and asked me as to whom I had voted for. When I told him that I had voted for the Congress, he opened three or four rounds of fire at me from a close-range and fled. I and my mother were injured in the attack,” Raja said in his complaint.
Raja has been admitted to the PGIMS in Rohtak while his mother was discharged after receiving treatment at a hospital in Jhajjar.
The police have opened an investigation into the matter and have registered a case under Section 307 of the IPC against Dharmendra.
The victim is said to be out of danger and the authorities have assured that strong efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
