Malkangiri: A Maoist camp was busted and a huge quantity of explosives seized by security forces in Malkangiri district Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off about several Maoists camping in the area, a team of Border Security Force (BSF) and police launched an operation in Manyamkonda reserve forest area, the police said.
When the security personnel reached the site, the left wing extremists fled leaving behind a huge stock of explosives, arms and ammunition.
While the naxal camp was demolished, the security personnel carries out a thorough search operation in the forest and recovered explosive materials including 27 gelatin sticks and around 100 detonators, they said.
In addition, several rounds of ammunition of AK-47 assault rifle and other weapons were also seized from the hideout, the police said, adding Maoist literature and uniforms were also recovered. PTI
