Bhadrak: After a long wait, Bhadrak town that’s beset with a host of civic problems is seeing light at the end of the tunnel. A master plan for an 80.34 sq/km area that lines up projects for development of the town and its 24 adjoining revenue villages has won administrative approval.
Collector Gyana Ranjan Das has approved the master plan Friday and forwarded it to the state government for issue of a gazette notification. As per the plan, the host of development projects will include setting up of parks, swimming pools etc, apart from the erection of a ring road.
Some changes have been effected in the master plan before it got the final nod, said town planning officer Nabaghana Mohanty. Significantly, the approval of the master plan has paved the way for implementation of the AMRUT Yojana. Roads, bus terminals, industrial estates, playgrounds for housing boards, drainage lines and systems for waste management will be put in place in 30 wards of Bhadrak town and 24 revenue villages of eight panchayats.
Another major project included in the master plan was an 18-km-long ring road, which will ease traffic to a large extent inside the town.
In 2013, the state government had assigned the work of drawing a master plan for the town to Gurugaon-based Feedback Infra at a cost of Rs 35 lakh. The consultant firm had prepared the master plan in 13 months and handed it over to the housing and urban development department in February 2016.
At a high-level meeting, the master plan was approved in the presence of the director of the Directorate of Town Planning. PNN
