New Delhi: The state MSME department has urged start-ups and young entrepreneurs from the country to invest in Odisha.
Participating in a national entrepreneurship conference titled ‘TiEcon’ in New Delhi, state MSME department minister Prafulla Samal urged start-ups to make the state their destination for entrepreneurship.
He stated that Odisha has been moving ahead with a mission to set up 1000 startups and with a vision to emerge amongst the Top 3 Startup Hubs in India by 2020. The state has a conducive ecosystem for nurturing Innovation and promoting start-ups, he added.
Fifteen startups from the state also participated in the conference here.
The startups belong to diverse sectors like health care, IT, biotechnology, electronics and services, food processing etc.
During a presentation on the topic, state MSME secretary LN Gupta informed the delegates that during the last nine months 152 startups cutting across all sectors and four incubators have been recognised under the Startup Odisha Initiative.
He added that the 15 out of 152 Startups (10 per cent) in the state are led by women entrepreneurs.
The conference was organised in the national capital from December 15-December 16 to bring different start-ups from the country under one umbrella and also to mentor them. (PNN)
