Chandikhole/Bargarh, Jan 27: Miscreants Tuesday decamped with Rs 60.91 lakhs in two separate loots from officials of Srirampur toll plaza on the outskirts of Chandikhole in Jajpur district and from Barahagoda toll plaza on National Highway-6 seven km from Bargarh town.
In the first incident, miscreants waylaid a car carrying three officials of Srirampur toll plaza, about 100 mt before Chandikhole square on National Highway-5 (A), and beat them up with iron rods. They sprayed chilli powder in their eyes before decamping with Rs 15 lakh. The desperadoes waylaid the car by having one of them to come before the vehicle pretending as a drunken man. A plaza official was hurt in the process. The incident occurred when the officials were on their way to Syndicate Bank to deposit the money. Barchana police registered a case and started an investigation. Superintendent of police Anup Sahoo rushed to the spot with senior police officials and conducted an inquiry.
In the second incident, two land supervisors Alok Kumar Singh (24) and Dharmendra Singh (25) of Bihar stole Rs 45, 91,335 from a toll plaza managed by Ashoka Buildcon on the National Highway-6 near Barahagoda and fled.
