Thiruvananthapuram: Movie tickets and beer and wine prices are to be hiked and a ‘flood cess’ slapped in cash-strapped Kerala as the CPI(M)-led LDF overnment presented its first post-flood budget Thursday in an effort to mobilise additional resources to rebuild the state.
As the southern state faced a severe financial crunch, finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac presented the budgetary proposals for the 2019-20 fiscal, giving thrust to a massive rebuilding exercise.
Besides paying more for building materials, #MovieTickets and #Alcohol, people in #Kerala will now pay a 1% additional cess on all items falling under the 12, 18 & 28% #GST slabs for the next 2 years, Kerala FinMin #ThomasIssac said while presenting the budget.#KeralaBudget2019 pic.twitter.com/7lOw4RQMzj
