New Delhi: Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ranks 7th among the Chief Ministers in the country vis-à-vis personal wealth, a report released by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) claimed Monday. The report analysed all CMs based on their wealth and criminal records.
As per the report, which has been prepared by the ADR and Election Watch, Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik ranks seventh in the country in terms of overall wealth with assets around Rs 12,06,37,433 (12 crore plus). This includes movable assets worth Rs 17,75,433 and immovable property worth Rs 11,88,62,000.
The report claims that Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu Naidu is the richest Chief Minister in India with property worth around Rs 177 crore. He is followed by Arunachal Pradesh CM Prema Khandu (Rs 129 crore), Punjab CM Amrinder Singh (Rs 48 crore), Telangana CM KC Rao (Rs 15 crore), Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma (Rs 14 crore) and Karnataka CM Siddharamaih (Rs 13 crore).
On the other hand, the report claims that 11 CMs (35%) have declared criminal cases against them.
However, the list does not include the Orissa CM. He is among the list of CMs (65%) having clean background.
The report analysed the self-sworn affidavits of the current CMs in state Assemblies and Union Territories across the nation. These are the latest affidavits, which were filed by them prior to contesting elections to their respective state/Union Territory Assembly.
