Bhadrak: The bodies of a newly married couple were found hanging inside a house at Suan village under Basudevpur police limits in Bhadrak district Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjan Mallick and Geeta Mallick.
Both, Ranjan and Geeta had tied the nuptial knot some six months back. According to reports, locals found the bodies hanging from the ceiling of the house by a rope and immediately informed police.
As the couple did not open the house till late in the morning family members broke open the door with the help of neighbours only to find the two hanging. It is suspected that the couple committed suicide over a family feud while nothing was ascertained.
After being informed by villagers, a police team reached the spot, seized the bodies and sent it for post-mortem. A scientific team was pressed in service to investigate the matter.
“After having dinner, everyone went to sleep in their rooms. However, my son and daughter-in-law did not open the door in the morning. So, we broke the door and found them hanging,” said deceased Ranjan’s family members.
A detailed investigation will be conducted in this regard. The body has been sent for autopsy and the exact reason will be known after the arrival of the report, a senior police official said.
