Bhubaneswar: Nayagarh Sports Hostel (NSH) and Bolangir Sports Hostel (BSH) entered the semifinals of the Biju Patnaik Gold Cup football tournament after winning their respective matches at the Unit VI High School Ground here Sunday.
NSH defeated Phulbani Sports Hostel (PSH) 3-1 via tie-breaker after the game had ended goalless in regulation time. In the second quarterfinal, Bolangir Sports Hostel (BSH) pipped Keonjhar Sports Hostel (KSH) by a solitary goal. Kuhsa Dani scored the only goal of the match and was adjudged man of the match.
Monday’s matches: KISS vs Balasore Sports Hostel, Bajrang Bali Junior Club vs Sundargarh Sports Hostel.
Huge win for Gujarat
Gujarat registered a huge 11-0 win over Navodaya Vidyalaya in a match of the National Schools’ Football Championships, which was inaugurated at Angul, Sunday. In another match Tripura thrashed Indian Public School 9-0.
Four hundred seventy six players and more than 100 officials from 27 states of the country are participating in this tournament.
Other results: Haryana bt Madhya Pradesh 7-0, Chandigarh bt Telangana 1-0, Chhattisgarh bt Maharashtra 2-0, West Bengal bt Andhra Pradesh 2-0.
