Cuttack: Admitting a public interest litigation (PIL) filed over age fudging racket in Orissa Cricket Association (OCA), the Orissa High Court Friday directed the petitioner to file an additional affidavit in this regard.
A bench of Chief Justice Vineet Saran and Justice B R Sarangi directed the petitioner to file an additional affidavit along with proofs of age fudging by the players within a week.
The state convenor of All India Anti-Corruption Association (AIAA), and advocate Subrat Kumar Nanda had filed the plea in the court in this regard.
During the hearing, the age manipulation proof of Subham Nayak, son of OCA CEO Bidyut Nayak, and the notifications issued by OCA on various occasions were submitted to the court. The petitioner urged the HC to initiate action against Subham, who allegedly played several matches by forging his age.
Nanda, in his petition, had alleged that the OCA had indulged in age fudging and urged the court to take immediate action against the guilty and initiate a criminal case. The petitioner pleaded against provision of incentives to players involved in age forgery as per the Supreme Court directives.
The petitioner had sought a direction from the court to OCA to fully abide by the Supreme Court rulings and form different committees. They should also upload the details regarding the age proof of the players on their website and form a selection committee.
The petitioner has also submitted that appointment of OCA coaches, who are government employees, should be quashed in view of the conflict of interests.
