New Delhi: Orissa Congress leaders Tuesday met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi at his residence in the national capital to discuss party issues with the central leadership.
This was one among the several such meetings the local leaders held with the Gandhi scion in the last few months keeping in mind the upcoming state elections and to discuss issues pertaining to change of local party organisation.
Although the leaders refrained from commenting on the exact agenda of the meeting with Rahul Gandhi, sources in the delegation said that the vice-president reportedly expressed anger over local party infighting and asked them to remain united ahead of the polls to check chasm in the party before polls.
Nevertheless, as per sources in the party, the central leadership planned to re-look at the party organisation in the state and a change is in the offing for the party in Orissa.
The grapevine has it that three leaders namely – Naba Das, Pradeep Majhi and Chiranjib Biswal are likely to be made working presidents in the state in the days to come while confusion still prevails over the final name for the party president in the state. Sources said either Niranjan Patanaik or Bhakta Das could be made state party president.
