Cuttack: A city-based real-estate firm has allegedly duped a man of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of selling him a residential flat at Buxibazaar area here.
The complainant, Rohan Tiwari, is a resident of Arunodaya Nagar and s/o Janardhan Tiwari, CGM of Coal India Limited, police said.
The matter came to the fore after Tiwari lodged a complaint with the Badambadi police here Friday evening alleging that the firm is yet to give possession of the flat even after receiving Rs 6 lakh advance.
According to the complaint, after receiving the advance money the real-estate firm employees had shown Tiwari a flat in a residential building. The firm had assured that the flat will be handed over to him after receiving the final payment. However, the firm failed to provide the documents of flat possession and receipt of the advance payment as per the agreement.
Tiwari has alleged that even though he agreed to pay the entire amount in advance to get possession of the flat, the firm turned a deaf ear to his plea. Besides, the firm had also locked the flat which was scheduled to be handed over to him recently, the complaint further cited.
When asked about the issue, Badambadi inspector-in-charge Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra said, “The complainant has been asked to submit documents related to the flat agreement to substantiate his claim. After verification of the documents action will be taken in this regard.”
