Prez to visit Srimandir March 18

Puri: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Srimandir March 18.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has recently convened a meeting of the Chhatisha Niyog, the apex body of Srimandir servitors, to make arrangements for the presidential visit.
It is learnt that Kovind will reach the Holy City March 17 evening and spend the night at a special circuit house. He is scheduled to enter the Srimandir at 7am the next day and spend 45 minutes inside the shrine.
The SJTA has decided to ban devotees’ entry to the temple from 6am to 8.30am to facilitate Kovind’s visit to the 12th century shrine.
“Servitors have been told to perform the morning rituals of the presiding deities on time April 18. Besides, steps will be taken to keep the temple premises clean during the presidential visit,” said district collector and SJTA deputy chief administrator Aravind Agrawal.
According to sources, SJTA chief administrator, Law department secretary and Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Dev will welcome Kovind at Srimandir. “The President will enter the sanctum sanctorum and pay obeisance to the presiding deities. Apart from the on duty servitors, no unauthorised person will be allowed into the temple. The temple administration will issue entry passes to the presidents and secretaries of all Niyogs,” Agrawal said.
Kovind is scheduled to participate in the centenary celebrations of Rashtriya Sanskruta Sansthan in the city.
Meanwhile, the district administration has initiated steps to make the special circuit house ready for Kovind’s night halt. A team of the district administration led by Agrawal visited the circuit house Monday and took stock of the arrangements.
“The circuit house will be under a security blanket from March 16 till completion of all beautification work. No one will be allowed to occupy any room at the circuit house during Kovind’s stay,” said a source in the district administration.

Puri: The special circuit house here is all set to host the President of India for the first time April 17. Earlier, there were reports that President Ram Nath Kovind would make a night halt at the Governor’s House in the city. However, the district administration finalised the special circuit house for the President’s stay after the Public Works department declared the Governor’s House as unsafe for the purpose. “The special circuit house had earlier hosted many dignitaries. For the first time the President of India will spend a night at the circuit house. Former President Pranab Mukherjee had spent time at the Governor’s House during his visit to the city,” said a source in the district administration. The special circuit house had hosted a state cabinet meeting December 26, last year. It was the first occasion when the state cabinet met outside Bhubaneswar.The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, approved as many as 20 important proposals before participating in the foundation day celebrations of ruling Biju Janata Dal in the Holy City.
