Baripada: Tribals Wednesday cried for rights and self-dignity at an international conference on indigenous people at Jambirdiha in Sankhabhanga panchayat under this block in Mayurbhanj district.
Tribals living in various parts of the country and foreign lands participated in this conference, organised by Jumid Khedwal Midun Madwa. They deliberated on various issues and problems concerning the tribals.
Over 23 tribal representatives from 10 countries participated in the conference and stressed on getting united for the development of tribals all over the world.
The speakers claimed that tribals living in the country are being deprived of their rights and self-dignity. Similarly, the foreign delegates dwelt at length on various problems confronting the community members in foreign lands.
The delegates also exchanged views on their development, society, culture, traditions and lifestyles in the conference. Convener Narendra Pradhan felicitated the foreign delegates in this function attended by youth leaders Biduraj Soren, Rakesh Singh, Anta Alok Baske.
Sadar police IIC Swarnalata Minz remained present at the spot and supervised the security arrangements at the conference. PNN
